I want to protest, but it’s hard through all this sudden yawning.

I slide my window shut again and shove my bag under the bed.

I lie back and stare at the bare bulb on my ceiling. I wish I was as confident as Attica Stone. I wish I was as mean as Torvald. I wish I lived somewhere you could have a shade over your bedroom light without someone nicking it.

‘Lullaby wrinkly elbow,’ says my stomach-goat.

I wish I’d eaten a bowl of pasta before blowing my family to pieces.

I’ll never sleep now.
